Essay Tips and Tricks

  • Write at least 250 words within 40 minutes.
  • Read the essay question carefully before you begin.
  • Identify the essay type and use the correct structure.
  • Spend 5 to 8 minutes planning your ideas.
  • Use the PESTEL method (Political/Personal, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental/Education, and Legal) to generate relevant points.
  • Use a variety of linking words to improve coherence and cohesion.
  • Apply accurate grammar and a wide range of vocabulary.
  • Replace repeated words with suitable synonyms.
  • Use pronouns such as they, it, and their only when the reference is clear.
  • Avoid personal pronouns such as I, me, my, we, and our unless the question specifically asks for a personal opinion.
  • Introduce examples using for example, for instance, such as, to illustrate, or namely.
  • Avoid informal expressions such as e.g., like, etc., many things, something, and and so on.
  • Write full forms instead of contractions, such as cannot, is not, are not, will not, and did not.
  • Do not use slang, conversational language, or idiomatic expressions.
  • Do not make up facts, statistics, or research findings.
  • Use both active and passive voice naturally to create a formal tone.
  • Include a mix of simple, compound, and complex sentences.
  • Check spelling, punctuation, grammar, and word choice before submitting.
  • Manage your time wisely and reserve 2–3 minutes for proofreading.

Important Note

  • The conclusion should restate the same position presented in the introduction without introducing any new ideas.
  • Each body paragraph should contain one main idea, a clear explanation, and a relevant example.
  • Maintain a formal academic style and ensure smooth logical progression between paragraphs.
